Validating Novel Biomedical Devices

In the context of EATRIS-GR, the Experimental Surgery Unit can support preclinical studies for the development and the validation of biomedical devices of both human and animal use. Animal models mice, rats, rabbit, swine up to 70 kg as well as Aachen minipigs can be used in surgical, toxicological and safety protocols. The Unit is supported by a state of the art laboratory animal facility, where animals may be housed and monitored for at least three months under continuous veterinary supervision. All procedures are performed in accordance to the existing European legal framework for the proper care and use of animals as well as the European Medicines Agency’s requirements.
